THE LYNX IN SLOVENIA - Technical museum of Slovenia
You are kindly inveted to the opening of the temporary exhibition The Lineage of Štefa and Arpad: The Lynx in Slovenia and travelling exhibition Personalities of Science and Technology in Slovakia On Thursday, 22nd April 2010, at 6 p.m. at the Technical museum of Slovenia, Bistra near Vrhnika.
THE LINEAGE OF ŠTEFA AND ARPAD: THE LYNX IN SLOVENIA
Archaeological finds, archival sources, historical and biological reports all provide evidence of the presence of lynx within the Slovenian territory. The Lynx or the ‘clear-sighted’ as it was also known, has been described as an extremely bloodthirsty wild beast, dangerous to people, especially children and, in particular, to girls. It has been also blamed for massacres of entire herds of domestic animals and game. This belief has continued through many generations.
To learn more about lynx in Slovenian forests, you are kindly invited to visit the Technical museum of Slovenia in Bistra near Vrhnika until 3rd December 2010. The exhibition was prepared in collaboration with Slovenian Hunting Association, Department of Biology, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana and Dinaricum Society
PERSONALITIES OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN SLOVAKIA
Presentation of 36 personalities of Slovak origin who considerably contributed to the development of science and technology in the world.
Science and technology in Slovakia are a part of European science and technology for centuries. An evidence of this fact is this travelling exhibition Personalities of Science and Technology in Slovakia, which was prepared by the Slovak National Museum Bratislava together with the Slovak Technical Museum Košice.
By means of the presentation of important personalities, the authors of the exhibition have tried to approach briefly the history of science and technology in Slovakia. The intention was to acquaint the visitors both from Slovakia and from abroad with important personalities from the fields of technological, mathematical and physical, natural sciences, astronomy and medical sciences, with their results as well as the contribution to the development of science and technology in worldwide scale.
The exhibition presents in a popular way 36 original biographies of the pioneers of science and technology who considerably contributed to the development in worldwide scale both for experts and general public.
On diplay until 20th June 2010.
