FEI WORLD DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS, COMBINED PONIES
LIPICA, SLOVENIA, 21ST – 25TH SEPTEMBER
Lipica will proudly host this year's FEI World Driving Championships Combined Ponies from 22 to 25 September 2011. Stud Farm Lipica, Slovenian national stud and recognized equestrian center with competition and accommodation infrastructure on the venue , is very pleased to be able to host the top pony single, pair and four-in-hand drivers from all over the world to compete against each other at its wonderful estate in Lipica.
Lipica Stud Farm was founded in 1580 and is the original stud farm of one of the oldest cultural horse breeds, the Lipizzaner. Lipica represents a unique atmosphere with individual elements – spatial arrangement, architectural core and cultural landscape - which were formed exclusively for the purpose of the basic, original activity,breeding of Lipizzaners.
The Lipica Stud Farm is also well-known for its large number of equestrian events and FEI competitions organized in Lipica every year. In 1993, Lipica hosted the FEI European Dressage Championships for Seniors and in 2000 the European Dressage Championships for Juniors and Young Riders were held in Lipica. In 2009 and 2010, Lipica successfully entered the Driving World by organizing international driving competitions.
Lipica is today, beside equestrian centre, also one of the most beautiful and the most visited Slovene tourist destinations, with particular charm given by the touch of tradition. In the green Karst oasis visitors may spend wonderful moments of relaxation and modern recreation. Untouched nature, riding courses in the saddle of marvellus Lipizzan horses, pleasant trip with carriage to the Lipica's Park, visit of one of the oldest Stud Farms in the world and unforgettable scenery of white Lipizzan horses, grazing green Lipica's meadows, conjure up to visitor the unforgettable experience. One can enjoy the experience of Lipica in the centre of the Stud Farm for one or more days, as there are two hotels on the estate. Lipica also invites golf-lovers with its picturesque golf course placed in the typical Karst environment in the shade of century old limes and oaks under the blue Mediterranean sky.
